Nissan Titan Accessories
The Nissan Titan, introduced in 2004, is a full-size pickup truck produced for the North American market by Nissan. The truck shares the stretched Nissan F-Alpha platform with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs and is manufactured in Canton, Mississippi. Introduced during the ’04 model year, the Titan immediately showed the North American market that Nissan was serious about competing in the pickup truck market. Issuing a clear challenge to the Big 3 in Detroit for truck supremacy, it was nominated to be Truck of the Year in 2004 at the North American International Auto Show. Since then, it has established a solid fan base among pickup truck consumers.
The Nissan Titan features a 32 valve 5.6L V8 engine which generates 305 hp. The 2007 model has been upgraded to 317 hp and 385 ft-lb of torque. It is available in either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with a 5-speed RE505A automatic transmission. It comes with a choice of a Crew Cab with a 5’7” bed or King Cab with a 6’7” Bed. The 2008 Titan lineup has an optional 7’ long bed to the Crew Cab and an optional 8’ long bed to the King Cab. With the long bed option comes a larger 37-gallon fuel tank. The already 5-speed transmission and 5.6L V8 will remain standard equipment on all Nissan Titans. The Nissan Titan comes in four basic trim levels: XE, SE, Pro-4X, and LE.
The future of the Nissan Titan is still uncertain. Nissan was previously working with Chrysler to build a rebadged truck based upon the Dodge Ram, but after Chrysler filed for bankruptcy in 2009, both companies decided to part ways in August 2009. Nissan is committed to staying in the light truck market though and is exploring all options. Production of the Frontier, Pathfinder, and X-Terra are also relying on a new design because of their Titan underpinnings. However, since the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 will be based on the Japan Market Nissan Patrol full-size SUV for the 2011 model year, it is certainly possible that.
Titan can be redesigned on the same platform as the Armada/Patrol/QX56 in the near future. In an article posted by Auto blog on January 13, 2010, Larry Dominique said that Nissan is now focusing on creating the next Titan internally, and indicated that it wouldn’t be ready until 2014. In the meantime, Nissan’s pickup team will ask headquarters to approve building a heavy-duty Titan; a light commercial truck, which wouldn’t be ready until 2012.
